Day 10 I Art Museum of Ontario (Technology)
The mood was set once we had woken up. The sunlight set an optimistic hangover, although diminished by the thought of leaving this beautiful place in two days. We thought of not wasting any time so that these last few days would be memorable. Today, we were going to the Art Museum of Ontario. Vik showed us the museum's website. We were going to see all the monsters from TV shows and movies and participate all sorts of events. No one could wait for what was to come.
We all walked out of our hotel rooms and took the elevator to get to the first floor to eat breakfast. We all ate cereal, waffles, toast, and coffee. Vik told us what the plans for today are. We would take the AGO Highlights Tour. After that, we go to Pop Up on the Dot Talks. The Guillermo del Toro: At Home With Monsters event would end our day off with many memories to remember. After eating breakfast, we went back up to our hotel rooms to brush our teeth. We all rushed back down so that we could get to the museum as quickly as we could. Once we got outside of the hotel, we ran into the car, trying not to waste one second of our day. On our way there, I started to think of all the great stuff that we will see and learn there. I wasn’t too sure if I really wanted to go there, but I continued to think of what we will experience and the great memories we will make.
We had finally arrived at our destination. I looked out the window to see the museum. I couldn't believe what I saw, this made the Musée de l'Amerique Francophone look ten thousand times worse. This museum even looked more modern than the Musée de l'Amerique Francophone. Not only that, but it also appeared like a piece of art itself. At this point, I knew I wanted to go, more than ever. As soon as the car was parked, everyone but James jumped out and sprinted to the entrance. He was excited, but not as excited as the rest of us were. James just stepped out of the car, closed the door, and walked to the museum's entrance.
Corey asked what time it was just to be sure we made it in time for the tour. I took my phone out of my pocket and looked at the screen. I told him it was ten forty-five, the AGO Highlights Tour was at eleven o'clock. We were five minutes early. This gave us enough time took look at some pieces of art before the tour starts. Eddie decided to wander off and look at all the different paintings. We followed him so that we could look at them ourselves. Everyone gave me the responsibility to check the time so that we wouldn't miss the tour, so I set an alarm to ten forty-nine so that I could peacefully look at the beautiful artwork myself without any interruptions.
Four minutes later, my phone began to vibrate. It was the alarm for the AGO Highlights Tour. I quietly told everyone that the tour starts in a minute and that we should go now. We all walked to Walker Court, where the tour would start. Right before the tour began, James grabbed a granola bar out of his backpack and opened the wrapper to eat it. Security walked up to James and nicely explained to him that food and drinks are not permitted. James had accepted to what he said and placed the granola bar in the guard's hand.
The tour had finally begun. Our tour guide introduced himself to everyone who was taking the tour. We began to walk around as the tour guide pointed at all the highlights of the Art Gallery of Ontario. As the tour guide explained the different architecture, Corey took his camera out of his backpack and took pictures of all the interesting things that he thought looked amazing. One of the pieces of art that we learned about in the tour was this great painting called Cows on a Hillside. It was a painting that had cows, trees, and grass, containing all the different colors of the rainbow. The artist of the painting was Kathleen Jean Munn, made in 1916. It was inspired by both Munn's explorations of Synchromist color theory and the work of Stanton Macdonald-Wright and Max Weber. Once the tour was over, we went to the museum's cafeteria to eat some lunch. While we were eating, everyone was talking about how fascinating the tour was.
After eating lunch, we threw away our trash and began walking to get to see Pop Up On the Dot. This was really fun since we had to find a red circle written the time meet at that spot to listen to a ten-minute talk. We only missed the first talk since it started when at the same time as the tour. Vik yelled with excitement how awesome it was to try and find the red circle so that we could listen to a person's view or story on art. I replied that it was like a game, and everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

Once Pop Up On the Dot had finished, we all went to Guillermo del Toro: At Home With Monsters. This showed us all the different monsters from famous movies and tv series. We saw all kinds of monsters. For instance, we saw Frankenstein, Hellboy, and even the sea monsters from Pacific Rim. I was hoping to see the Demogorgon from the Netflix original series, Stranger Things, but there wasn't. I was kind of sad about that, but I understood that not every monster will be shown there. We listened to the different talks about these monsters and horror films. I was most interested in the creators' influence on making these monsters. When we finished examining to all the monsters and listening to all the talks about them, we headed back to the cafeteria for dinner. Everyone but Vik ate the Charcuterie. Vik and James were the only ones who had the Ontario Burrata. After eating dinner, we headed back to our hotel to rest for the next day.
